In addition to our regular schedule of classes and workshops, Om On offers private yoga instruction at our studio in the West End of Richmond. Private yoga classes are a great choice for people who are just starting their yoga practice and would like some one-on-one time with a teacher before trying out a flow class, experienced yogis who want to deepen their practice outside of class, and everyone in between. We also find that they’re a popular choice for birthday and bachelorette parties, team building, and corporate wellness! If you’re thinking about trying a private yoga session, here’s a bit of what you can look forward to.
Individualized One-on-One Attention
When you come in for a private yoga session, it’s all about you! Your session will be customized to fit your needs, based on a start-of-class discussion about your personal health history, an assessment of your goals, and any other activities, injuries, or physical limitations that you think your instructor should know about. The teacher will also be able to get a better look at how you move, positions you struggle in or that come more naturally to you, and what parts of your body might need more attention in order to recommend a specific yoga practice sequence or regimen. This leads to the creation of a practice that is tailor made for you!
Flexibility in Scheduling
Private sessions are scheduled based on what works best for you. If you’re someone who’s interested in keeping up with a regular practice but finds it hard to come to the studio for group classes, private sessions are a great option.
Privacy + Comfort
So many people who could benefit from a yoga practice don’t start because they’re nervous or uncomfortable with trying out something new in a group setting. Jump starting your yoga journey with a few private sessions before moving onto a class can make you more confident in your practice, as you’ll have learned and possibly even mastered many of the basic positions you’ll run into during our vinyasa flow class. Private sessions are also great for people who are working toward resuming their practice following an injury or medical procedure. The instructor will be able to suggest positions that will help you regain your strength and give you adjustments to use until you’re feeling like yourself again.
Your teacher is your cheerleader! Taking private classes not only creates a rapport between you and your teacher, but gives you an invaluable sounding board and friend to guide you along your yoga journey. They’ll always be invested in your growth and available to answer questions or provide guidance.
Other Resources + Tips
In that same vein, creating the sort of relationship with a teacher that’s only possible through continued private session means you have someone who can meet you where you are and help you to the next place. Your teacher will know yoga sequences, study materials, or particular classes and workshops that will be beneficial to you. Don’t ever hesitate to use them as a resource – they’re happy to help you, and take joy in helping you be your best self.
How great does this sound? Private classes are such a special part of your yoga journey, and will help your practice in more ways than we can name. We hope you’ll schedule a private class with one of our incredible teachers soon!
