It’s no surprise that Southern California is this country’s wellness mecca. The beautiful weather and good vibes can’t help but make you want to take the best possible care of your mind, body, and spirit. While we here at Om On are confirmed East Coasters, we have a soft spot for LA (and San Diego!). In fact, we’re in the process of planning a trip out there for next year! We can’t wait to share some of our favorite spots with you next year, but in the meantime, here’s a list of places to check out if you beat us there. 😉
Kreation Organic: Stop in for a juice, a wrap, or tasty raw snacks when you’re looking for something to power through your sunny SoCal day. Nearly everything on the menu is dairy free and gluten free, and there are many raw and vegan options. There are juiceries dotted throughout the greater Los Angeles area, as well as full-service Kreation Kafes in Venice, Santa Monica, and West Hollywood.
Moon Juice: Let’s be real: you’re probably no stranger to Moon Juice! Their juices and Moon Dusts are all over Instagram and our favorite wellness blogs. Moon Juice harnesses the power of plants, many of which we’d never even heard of before, to nourish the body from the inside out. We highly recommend checking out their extensive online store, but if you’re in town, there’s no better way to get acquainted with Moon Juice than to pop by one of their brick and mortar stores in Silver Lake, Melrose, or Venice.
OWL Venice: Specializing in cleanses and bone broths, OWL creates elixirs that enhance and improve gut health. All bones, herbs, roots, and vegetables are locally and ethically sourced, and all of their products are free of common allergens.
Beaming Organic Superfood: Although they do sell awesome juices and smoothies, Beaming distinguishes itself from Southern California’s other juiceries by offering plant based and allergen free bowls, salads, and even baked goods! If you’re looking for a cleanse that’s more than just liquid, Beaming’s cleanses include snacks and salads. Their menu items are all seasonal and locally sourced, so no two visits will be the same. Most Beaming locations are in the LA area, but if you’re in San Diego, check out their La Jolla cafe.
True Food Kitchen: One of our favorite healthy chains, True Food Kitchen has locations all over SoCal, in both the Los Angeles and San Diego areas. True Food Kitchen is all about food that makes you feel good, based on founder Dr. Andrew Weil’s time-tested anti-inflammatory diet. All menu items are anti-inflammatory, and many are gluten free, vegan, or both!
Yogis Anonymous: We know so many yogis who love to keep up their practice with Yogis Anonymous, an amazing online yoga resource. If you’re in Santa Monica, drop in to their studio for a class!
Liberation Yoga: Located between Miracle Mile and Hollywood, Liberation features a full boutique and breathtakingly pretty spaces for practicing. Their larger studio has a greenhouse vibe, with vines and branches creeping across the wall and blooming plants as far as the eye can see.
Exhale Spa: This Santa Monica spa is a one-stop wellness haven. Take a class at their yoga and barre studio, then treat yourself to a spa treatment. They’ll even do your nails! Most of their spa treatments use organic skincare products or offer an organic option.
Café Gratitude: With five locations in Los Angeles and one in San Diego, Cafe Gratitude is a staple of the Southern California vegan community. Every menu item is plant-based and most are gluten free. All their food is named after a positive adjective (like Abundant, Open-Hearted, and Dazzling), so order however you’d like to feel that day!
The Butcher’s Daughter: The Butcher’s Daughter has become a favorite of people following a plant-based lifestyle in New York, and now folks on the Left Coast can experience it at their Venice location. The menu changes daily, and all options are vegetarian if not vegan and gluten free. If you’ll be having a small party or eating with a large group, book their gorgeous back patio.
Ceremony Meditation: Visiting a city as big as LA can be stressful, no matter how low-key your plans are. When you’re in need of a little peace, head to Santa Monica for a meditation class, reiki session, or crystal healing. We guarantee you’ll float out of there, feeling blissful and ready to take the City of Angels by storm.
The Yoga Collective Venice: The Yoga Collective is another one of our favorite purveyors of online yoga classes. We like to think of their Venice studio as the calmer compliment to Muscle Beach. 🙂
The Den Meditation: This incredible studio offers a truly remarkable variety of meditation classes at their La Brea and Studio City locations, including sound bath meditation and tapping. Most classes are only 30 minutes long, so you can fit in a little meditation every day you’re in town.
Wanderlust Hollywood: Here, they’re devoted to supporting the well-rounded yogi through a full schedule of classes and workshops, an organic cafe, and creative events like film screenings and concerts. There’s a little something for everyone at Wanderlust…and that’s exactly how they like it.
