Things to do at Grey Cliffs Ranch

Our favorite part about a yoga retreat is exploring all of the different things there are to see and do both on site and throughout the surrounding area.

Whether you’re looking for a getaway where you can be super active, or something a little more relaxed – the Montana Yoga Retreat can be easily customized to fit your vacationing needs.

The following activities are all included in the Grey Cliffs Ranch Yoga Retreat.

Led off road hike on ranch

With 5400 acres to explore we’ll set off on the trail to take in the flora and fauna of this incredible natural landscape.  Enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountain ranges and rolling pastoral farmland for miles.  You may even wish to trek up to one of the property’s vistas for a 360 degree view.

Daily Yoga

Enjoy daily yoga by Om On’s Becky Eschenroeder.  Expect a creative sequence of standing postures, blending in other movement modalities, along with heart opening back bends and restorative savasana. Opportunities will be provided to both modify and enhance within the practice and Becky will be there to support in any way she can. All practices will be held onsite at Grey Cliffs Ranch.  Typically we begin our mornings inside in the great room, as it’s typically chilly still, and take our evenings outside on the wrap around deck or on grass near the trout pond.  There is simply no better way to immerse in the elements as we practice beneath the big sky of Montana, breathe in the fresh mountain air, and take in the incredible scenery beyond.

Horseback ride in Yellowstone Park

Located approximately 2 hours from the Ranch is famed Yellowstone National Park.  We’ll be transporting to the trailhead there where you’ll meet your trusty companion for the day.  On horseback we will ride into the park and explore trails that take you into the beauty and wildness of this incredible landscape.  A stop for picnic lunch trailside and plenty of photo ops will round out this day trip.  The ride is all-levels and our guides will do their best to ensure each rider’s comfortability.

Private Cooking Class with Ranch Head Chef, Rory Kain

Rory is a “Montana native who brings passion and enthusiasm to the ranch’s kitchen, as an 8 year veteran of the restaurant industry. After attending culinary school in Boulder, Colorado, he returned to Montana, eventually serving as an Executive Chef in his home town of Great Falls. Rory’s menus are based around seasonal Montana ingredients and variations on traditional dishes. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and backpacking in Montana’s vast designated wilderness areas.”  Join Rory on retreat as you learn some culinary skills and prepare a meal to share with other retreaters.

Pottery Decorating Class

Explore your creative and artistic side with a pottery decorating class  in the ranch’s pottery studio hosted by Licia Lucas-Pfadt. “With a Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in ceramic arts, Licia has 19 years of experience making and teaching pottery. Guests can use colorful under-glazes to decorate porcelain cups, mugs, bowls, trivets, and tile wall decorations, all handmade by Licia at Grey Cliffs Ranch. Licia will then clear glaze and fire the pieces, and ship them back home to guests. Check out Licia’s online shop at www.liciapfadt.etsy.com”
