Teacher Feature: Nitya Griffith

This month we caught up with Nitya Griffith, One of Om On’s favorite Kids & Yin Teachers.  Also, a writer and Feng shui consultant Nitya focuses on merging Eastern wisdom, meditation, and yin for a relaxing and introspective journey in her classes.

Meditation gets me going in the morning.

When I close my eyes, I am one with myself and I feel peace.

Teaching yoga, is the best part of my day.

The last time I laughed so hard I couldn’t stop was
probably with my daughter watching Good Mystical Morning.

I’ve never learned how to ski.

I started practicing yoga when I was 31.

The person I call my Guru is Sri Swami Satchidananda.

Potato Chips or French Fries are my guilty obsessions.

One thing you wouldn’t have guessed about me is I am artist and love painting.

My proudest accomplishment is raising my daughter.

Teaching kids yoga makes me happy.

My favorite tunes for on + off the mat are,
chanting Yoga Kirtan with Krishna Das or Snatam Kaur, and many others.

I go into nature…when I need to mellow and unwind.

I am consistently inspired by
the call to serve through teaching yoga, cultivating peace in others nourishes my soul.

My life motto/mantra is Step Into Your Own Light

I am grateful that I am a yoga instructor because,
I know I am building a legacy of healthy, peaceful, compassionate children and adults in my community and beyond.

No matter what comes up,
I always make time for self reflection through journaling, meditation, or quiet time alone.

My top spot to escape is:  Yogaville
