Richmond Wellness Guide

In our home city of Richmond, Virginia, there are so many different things to do that encompass our passion for healthy living. A city bursting with personality, Richmond has been brought to life by the innovative minds who live here.

Buildings that are dripping with color, mindful businesses, local produce available around every corner; Richmond has an entire community built around wellness, you just have to know where to look to find it.

In this Richmond Wellness Guide we’re going to be telling you guys all about our favorite places to shop, work out, grab a healthy snack, and what bloggers we’re following to stay up-to-date with all things RVA.

Where to Shop –

When it comes to shopping in RVA, the options are limitless. From vintage thrift stores to the chicest of boutiques, Richmond has something for everyone. We wanted to focus on the businesses that strive for social, economic, and environmental awareness.

Ten Thousand Villages – Fair-trade handmade goods.

Dear Neighbor – Boutique shop that carries gorgeous jewelry,  handmade goods and unique gifts.

Rosewood Clothing Co.– Clothing and home goods made with fashion and sustainability in min.

Addison Handmade Vintage – Recycled fashion; handpicked vintage items that pay tribute to 60’s and 70’s fashion.

Fleet Feet – Specialty store carrying quality products specific to runners.

The Ethical Olive – An online shop for ethical goods.

Om On Yoga – We had to include ourselves in this roundup because we’re proud to carry both local and fair trade items.

Where to Workout –

Boho Cycle Studio – Indoor cycle studio where the classes are  just as fun as they are sweaty.

Tread Happy – The music is almost as good as the energy in this treadmill-based class.

Fighting Gravity Fitness – Try something new with an aerial yoga class at this unique studio.

PlankRVA – Core-focused workout classes that make you feel the burn.

Title Nine Boxing – Boxing and kickboxing classes for every type of person.

Orange Theory Fitness – Heart-monitored, high-intensity, interval-training workouts.

The November Project – A fun but intense group workout that meets every Wednesday morning at 6am in the back of the VMFA.

Where to Relax –

Atir Natural Nail Salon– Organic nail salon dedicated to making your nails as beautiful as they can be – naturally. They won’t touch acrylic nails.

Where to Eat –

We’ll be going more into depth of the incredible restaurants the Richmond food scene has to offer in our Richmond Food Guide that’s coming soon, so in the meantime we wanted to include some of our favorite spots for something quick and healthy.

Ellwood Thompsons– Organic grocer that carries local produce, perfect for a quick meal, smoothie, or iced matcha latte.

The Pit and the Peel – Where the VCU students go for a smoothie bowl and some avocado toast.

Ginger Juice – Detox shots, smoothies, and quick bites.

North End Juice Co. – A quirk walk-up window serving smoothie bowls, cold-pressed juices, hoke bowls, salad, and of course, avocado toast.

Union Market – The perfect spot to have a sandwich and grab a glass of kombucha before picking up a few grocery items.

Whole Foods – The best salad bar the West End has ever seen.

Goatocado – Another VCU student favorite; creative bowls with plenty of avocado.

CAVA – A quick and healthy stop for create-your-own mediterranean bowls.

Urban Farmhouse Market and Cafe – If you ever need somewhere quiet to work while simultaneously eating something delicious, check out one of the Urban Farmhouse Cafe’s.

Lamplighter Roasting Company -Quirky espresso bar that has creative lunch fare with plenty of options for vegetarians and vegans

Who to Follow –

EatingBirdFood – Brittany keeps us up to date on what’s going on in RVA, and when we’re not sure what to make for dinner she’s the first person we check out. 

Restoring Radiance – Always inspiring us with her transparency, Lex shares about her life openly, urging other’s to live life as their best self. 

RVAFitFoodie – Austin is always encouraging others to live a healthy life, sharing the latest on the Richmond workout scene, along with making us drool over her healthy recipes. 

The Good Wear – Teaching shoppers how they can become educated consumers by choosing ethical and sustainable fashion, Kelly let’s us know where to shop in RVA.

Ginger Tonic Botanicals – Lindsay is an herbalist who practices at Richmond Natural Medicine, using her blog as a hub to share about the science of botanicals and benefits of holistic nutrition.
